IN 1997 Labour swept the Conservatives from power. Five years ago Labour won an unprecedented third term. This time around, things look extremely close. This evening, our map will be updated every half an hour, showing the changes as they happen.

At the start of the evening, constituencies will be lightly shaded to reflect the situation at the dissolution of Parliament on April 12th. As seats are declared, they will be re-coloured in bolder tones. Move your mouse over any constituency to see the latest set of results.
